So THAT’S What They’re Saying!
cats, Fun December 13th, 2007I came very close to giving up blogging this week. Moving from Blogger to WordPress was no picnic and I wondered if it was all worth it. I finally got some outstanding issues resolved and I’m happy to say that I’m not giving it all up.
During the five days it took to fully make the transition, I had reason to laugh only once. It was when I discovered the following two videos. The first one shows two chatty cats having a conversation in their native feline language. The second one is its interpretation to English.
Until I can get my bearings back to write something unrelated to my blogging nightmare, I want to share them both with you. Even if you’re not a cat person, you can’t not think they’re hilarious. Enjoy!
The Feline Language Version
And now for the English Version

Glad to know you are hanging in there!
This is one of my stops during the week, I would have definitely missed you!

Awww, they’re so cute! (I can not picture my cats doing that, though… they’re too lazy.
December 13th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
@ Bucky — Thanks for sticking with me during re-construction. I fixed a couple more things today (header text layout, and put my picture back up). Been a crazy time. I’m so glad to be back in business! Thanks for dropping by my new digs!
@ Regan — They are cute! I just couldn’t get over how long those cats talked to each other. The translation video made it even funnier. “Get any treats yet?” Cracked me UP.

December 13th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
@ JD — It’s GREAT to be back! You have no idea. Well, yes you do actually. Thanks for all your help during my migration.
@ DrowseyMonkey — We have one cat (of three) who talks ALL the time to whoever will listen. I wish I knew what he was saying and why he is such a chatterbox. He’s the weird one. The other two just put up with him.
December 13th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Thanks for making me laugh and smile so much my cheeks hurt!! We have (*&(*& cats, and a couple who act just like that. Always wondered what they were really saying.
By the way, the blog looks great!!
Lee’s last blog post..The Passing of a Friend
December 13th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
So funny! When I had 2 cats I always wanted them to be buddies like that, but they never were. They were like 2 sisters–I think deep down they loved each other, but outwardly they were always fighting.

December 13th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
@ Lee — I’m glad it made you laugh. I owe you at least that! It’s funny. Today I dropped a comment at the blog of the guy who developed my current theme. He quickly wrote back with an answer to my question and found out his name is Lee. I thought “Wow, two really helpful Lee’s in one week!” I wonder if great Lees come in threes. I should think of other places I need help and hope for a Lee to show up. Thanks again for your part in my blog migration.
@ Susan — Oh, that’s sad. It happens, though. We, too, had two cats. Then one of them passed away, and we got another. The two did not get along at ALL. So that’s why we got the third. She has acted as a peacemaker between them and life in our household is calm again.

@ Margaret — Oh, thank you for saying that! And I really like your blog. Well-done and a fun read. I still can’t get over the Panera Bread discovery. Ew and weird.
December 13th, 2007 at 11:36 pm
I’m new here, but I love your blog. I’ve seen that translation video a couple of times, and it never fails to make me laugh. “Act real cute and he’ll give us treats!”

I just saw your post on “Der Mr. Poopy Head Truck Driver” and I have to ask…do you live in the DC metro area? That is a typical day around here. 🙂
Jacki’s last blog post..It all went downhill so quickly…
December 14th, 2007 at 6:19 am
@ Deanna — Nice to have you here! The second video is so well done and funny. “Did’ja get any treats yet?” I laugh at it every time like it’s the first time I’ve seen it!
I just read your Dec 3rd post. As to #2, you should really check out my “Annoying Noises” post here:
http://junkdrawerblog.com/?p=88 It’ll make you feel better, I guarantee!
@ Maureen — Enjoy the videos over and over! I know I’ll be going back to it whenever I need a good laugh. Thanks on the theme. I still have some tweaking to do. I’m not sure I like the page background color. I don’t know how hard it’ll be to make it white, or if white will even go with the rest of the colors. But at least I’m moved to WordPress now. The color tweaks can come later.

@ Jacki — Well, if you deal with that all the time, my heart goes out to you. You must have to leave the house three hours early! I’ve heard and read that DC traffic is the worst in the country outside of California. Yikes!

I’ve been thinking of going from the WordPress free version to the self-hosted, but your experience is giving me pause. At least your blog is looking great after all the hassle. 🙂
And those cat videos — hilarious. I’m going to send some cat-loving friends here to see them.
December 14th, 2007 at 8:58 am
Carla — It should give you pause. My only suggestion is to try and find someone who can help you IN PERSON. Someone experienced with web hosting and web publishing (HTML, CSS, etc) and file management. Phone and online forum support is probably not enough. I speak from my own experience. Your mileage may vary. I’m OK with the theme for now. But would like to tweak a bit down the road. I’m not in a rush, though. Been through enough this last week.
As for the videos, those are keepers. I’ve seen some good ones over the years, but these to me are, hands-down, the best! Send ’em on!
December 14th, 2007 at 11:40 am
Congrats on the switch! It must have been a pain in the butt. Looks great.
I sometimes think about giving up blogging. A few weeks ago I logged on and was told that the interweb thingy couldn’t find my site. I actually didn’t care that much. I guess it’s normal when we spend so much time laboring in love like this to want to break up sometimes. But I’m glad you’re still around- I dig your place. I hope WP makes your life easier.

Moving an entire blog looks like a lot of work.
I shall have to hire more servants to help out, should I do the same.
Well done on a successful move!

Give up blogging? BAH! No way, I know you too well. And that’s saying a lot considering I hardly know you.
December 14th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
@ Frogster — Yeah, I almost filed for divorce from my blog. When I realized I’d have to re-import all my posts and reformat all of them AGAIN, I thought that was the end. My host (BlueHost) wouldn’t let me change my primary domain on-the-fly. I had been testing with an alternate domain I bought (apparently for nothing now) and wanted to just switch it over to the live one when I had everything set up to my liking. They said “No can do” and deleted all my work. Vomit? Cry? Kill myself? Those were my choices. I cried. But there’s no crying in blogging! So I picked myself up and kept plugging away until everything fell into place. I feel the same way about your blog. Please never give it up!
@ Lord Likely — It was 500% more work than I thought it would be. I would agree that servants are in order.
@ Jeff — I know you’re right. Deep down, I could never give it up. But the process really tried my patience, and I never had that much to begin with. It really tested me. I’m glad I survived. All I can say if you do it is get help from someone who knows all the ins and outs. Good luck!

Libertine’s last blog post..Banned Words for 2008
January 1st, 2008 at 4:23 pm
Libertine — Sometimes I jump back to this post and watch them again. They continue to make me laugh like it’s the first time I saw them. I have JD (I Do Things blog) to thank for telling me about the translation version. My husband found the first one and when I sent it to her, she wrote back and said “Have you seen the translation?” That just made it perfect, didn’t it?
January 1st, 2008 at 7:27 pm
My kitten heard the meowing coming from the speakers and immedatily tried to find the cats. It was so funny. Our speaker is on top of the printer and she was looking in it, behind it, under it, everywhere! so cute.
P.S. I’m new to your site and i love it!
January 1st, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Sarah — I do the same thing with my three cats. I play the video just to confuse them. It’s fun to watch their reaction to it on my laptop. Glad you like the blog. Hope to have you back!

Oh god….Why I didn’t find this earlier?They are cute!I love the English Version:”Some body’s coming,act like a cat…” Haha…
