Do You Think We Can’t See Them or What?
Stuff I hate July 27th, 2008Girls, girls, girls. You may not realize this, but millions of women before you regarded this look as slobbish. I know this seems to be a trend right now, but it’s really not attractive. Not cute. Not flirty. Just makes you look like you can’t dress yourself.
If you’re going to wear a bra with straps that are thicker than the ones on the dress, for the love of God, at least match the color. And, by the way, I believe most men prefer a little mystery. This ain’t it.
And, yes, I did take a picture right there in the church. It was at a wedding, so everyone had cameras out. They were just pointing them at someone else wearing white.
Geez.
I suppose I should ask whether the men out there actually like this look. Do you find it alluring and sexy? Or do you think underwear belongs under there? Be honest.
Stumble it!

Vivienne — Same here. I want to scream “You can’t be comfortable with your pants down around your knees!” I guess we should be happy they at least wear the boxers, huh?
Heather — Thanks for the visit. You are not alone here. We all think it’s a ridiculous look. I don’t know what we can do about it except maybe give these girls really obvious eye rolls. There will always be trends. Let’s hope this one dies soon.
TeasasTips — Yes, she’d probably have been OK enough with a black bra. Though I still have issues if the strap is wider than the dress strap. Looks sloppy. Thanks for submitting this to Entreview. Always appreciate extra visitors.
Tracie — I think these girls have convinced themselves the look is attractive. You could tell them it wasn’t until the cows came home and you’d be wasting your breath. I only hope, with time, it goes away and we can all look back on it later and say “Remember when….?”

I have it on good authority that men think WTFrell? about bra straps showing. As I was reading your post, I said something about it out loud to my husband who is stilling next to my in the computer room saving the universe from globby monsters at his computer. He said he doesn’t get it either.
Happy Birthday to your blog!

tfa — So is it the manziere or the bro? (Seinfeld reference for those not in the know). I’ll always feel comfortable around you, should my straps be hangin’ out!
Condo Blues — I don’t know. I should go back and do a stats check to see who among us (men or women) hate this look more. I’m pretty sure men don’t mind seeing anything boob-related, yes? Thanks for the birthday wishes! It was great.

It is just plain foolish thing to do and no man can be impressed or seduced by this. There are lot more things to focus and to find in a woman rather than that nasty white bras.

All I can say is priceless, just priceless! lol

Schuppen — Absolutely! And guess what I saw on MTV today? A young girl wearing a long-sleeved shirt with her BRA worn on the outside of it. And there were signatures written on the cups. No, we didn’t get an eyeful of skin, but I still don’t want to see the bra. Looked like hell.
DJ — And so was the look on my face when I spotted her.

Kathy, I am using my imagination to draw a picture of that, You know, I ended up with a very odd feeling. Yet on another blog I was reading something similar like that. Some of women expressed that they show some skin intentionally and some of them were totally disagreed with that. Cleavage is something which can seduce men but how that cab be possible without a nice bra but indeed I am not in the favor to show bra.

That is so funny. Love that you took the picture.
August 6th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
adhs — It’s funny. The week I wrote this, I saw a couple of other posts about stuff like this. I think the consensus is that what’s underneath is best left to the imagination.
Lisa@blessedwithgrace — I couldn’t NOT take that picture! She was just askin’ for it!

That’s my pet peave too. It just doesn’t look nice.

At least if it was her slip (does anyone wear those anymore?) she could say she didn’t have a full-length mirror (sad, but possible). Her bra straps? Seriously. I cannot think of a single good excuse to use for that.

Data Entry — I think they’re just running out of new fashion trends to try. This one will never be acceptable.
Becki — Me neither. Funny about the slip. I can’t remember the last time I wore a full one.

Ok, let’s face it, women should have different bras for different clothes. That lady should have used a strapless bra and it would have looked great!

Everyone wears and does things that in hind sight they realize were mistakes. Have you ever regreted a clothing
choice or hairstyle only to find a framed photo of it on
a family member’s mantle? You cringe and hope nobody
bothers to look. Well, this girl has had her mistake posted on the internet for 114 people plus to laugh about.
We may not be able to identify her, but I bet she could identify herself. She may type in something about bra fitting or shopping and then run across this mortification.
May 21st, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Aireandale — Yes, strapless would have done the trick. They make them so supportive now, too.
misspiggytoes — Well, I’d never in a million years post someone’s face online who didn’t want to be posted (though people have done that to me and others on Facebook and elsewhere). Sure, I’ve made mistakes. I post them here all the time. If the gal in this photo discovered the photo, I’d be happy to blur out her head and dress, leaving only the straps, which are completely unidentifiable.

I guess she reminds me of myself at that age, trying to
be dainty, but going about it the wrong way.
May 21st, 2009 at 5:20 pm
misspiggytoes — I went my entire grade school, and I’ve venture to say most of high school, “going about it the wrong way.” I’m able to laugh about it now. I don’t even consider the bra strap thing as horrible a violation as how I tried wearing my naturally curly hair. It was sinful.

I’m brand new to the internet world and discovered your blog when keywording about cats. I guess I am now a blog follower and a comment maker. I will keep reading the archives and checking out the new stuff. The junk drawer
is very relatable and human. It sure does bring in the comments!

misspiggytoes — I’m loving that you’re commenting on a lot of my old stuff. It’s refreshing! So you have cats then?

im 13 and totally obsessed with fashion and i NO thats not a trend. yesterday at subway there were theses college girls in front of me and one of them was wearing a shirt with like no back and u could see all of the back of her bra. its one thing to see the straps but seeing the whole back of the bra? thats gone WAY too far!
June 21st, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Corrina — Glad to hear someone from your generation doesn’t think much of this look either. I think we can blame Madonna for that whole “showing the entire bra” thing. Shall we?
July 28th, 2009 at 9:32 am
I am quite relaxed about ladies showing their bra straps – they obviously cannot help it any more than when I need to remove my jacket in public and reveal my braces. Better to be comfortable than fashionable. Gee, I must be getting old – only 23, so just kidding!
August 29th, 2009 at 11:49 am
You lot are either women or very sad men.
Bras showing if so sexy. keep on showing them ladies and dont listen to theses low life idiots. they havent got a clue. Kathy you have seen very few dicks i can tell!
