Where Do You Blog?
Blogging September 2nd, 2008Until the first snowflake falls, this is where I’ll be blogging:
I love sitting out on my patio, enjoying the morning or evening air. The stillness, the peace, the tranquility. It’s the one space I where I can get far from the ear-splitting, earth-shaking tremors brought on by the theater-quality audio system my husband bought to accompany our HDTV.
The audio system that has my cats hearing things that aren’t really in the room and now they need therapy.
The audio system that requires its own stupid remote control.
The audio system that is the size of a microwave and needs its own stabilizing table.
The audio system so sensitive that when I moved one of its speakers to dust, it gave my husband a coronary and prompted a lecture that every time I move one of them — so much as an inch — the whole system needs to be recalibrated and don’t you understand hi-tech audio, woman?
Um. No?
I don’t know what I’m going to do in winter. Earmuffs? Cone of silence? Move?
I’m curious where you guys blog. Drop your comments in the drawer — quietly.
Stumble it!

Until yesterday I was blogging from the living room, looking out at Lake Washington. However, we now have our ‘west wing’ back in order so my office is once again set up for full functionality. On occasion I take my lap top outside and sit in the sunshine, but I find it hard to squint and read the screen at the same time.

eurail pass — Yes, but is there wireless access in a mountain village? It’s funny how when I travel, my lodging decision is based entirely on whether there’s wireless access.
Elle — I could blog in my sitting room or dining room, but neither has comfortable enough furniture. I bet your armoire is beautiful! Always wanted one.
Carla — Ooo! A lake view! Yes, it’s tough to work on the laptop in the sun. There’s a period of time I can’t do it, say 5-7PM. But after that, it’s quite nice and easy to see the screen.
Babs beetle — Darnit! Maybe next time (if there is a next time).
recel — Wow, another mom who can blog with distractions. I’m in total awe of you. I wouldn’t have a blog at all if I had kids, as I’m unable to focus. Although some parents tell me it’s a learned skill.

Greetings from Texas Kathy. I know I’m not the biggest techie (not even remotely technie), but I am blogging from the Sam Houston Tollway N. outside of Houston in our RV. I’ve been connected in the mountains of TN, the bug infested hot highways of MS and LA, down to San Antonio. Now heading back and just loving this AT&T mobile wireless thingy and my MacBook Pro that lets me do my email, check all my blogs, check locations of all the hurricanes that seem to be determined to chase us away.

Peg at Lehigh — Oh, you are TO a techie and you can’t deny it! I was considering buying a mobile card to take with me and my laptop on my trip to Toronto. But the trip was so suddenly planned, I didn’t have time. Next trip, I’ll be well-equipped to blog from the road. Enjoy your road trip, chickie!

This is a horrible HORRIBLE mistake.

LOBO’s last blog post..Jaw Droppings

LOBO — I know! I’m really disappointed. I have been thinking of setting up a live “Bag Cam” so people can check in on it whenever they feel like it. But there is no secure location in my building to set up a camera and server. I don’t think my employer would go for a suggestion that they mount a camera on the outside of the building. It’d be awesome, though.

I blog from my couch (I have a little laptop beanbag desk thing) or from my BlackBerry. 🙂 I wish I had a nice view to blog from, but alas… I don’t. 🙁

Corrina — I’ve thought of buying one of those bean bag things, but I’m afraid it’d put the laptop too high on my legs. Believe me, I have enough padding already.

Kathy if I tell you that I haven’t seen snow by now, will you believe? But it’s a fact. Many friends of mine have told me that there’s nothing special about snow. The first time you may get exited, but the next time, all you probably think that is normal. However, I am still looking forward to my first date with snow…I swear I will bring my Mr.Right.
Handbag for life’s last blog post..Can you smell that sexy taste of Matthew Williamson?

I also enjoy stillness, the peace, and tranquility. Living in a metropolitan area noise is all around almost 24 hours a day.So silence has become very valuable like a rare jewelry.

Hangbag for life — Where do you live? Do you mean you’ve never seen snow ever? Oh, I want you to see snow. But you’re right. Once you see the first one, it’s great. When you have to start shoveling it, not so fun anymore.
Jewelry — Oh, man. That’s bad. I’ve lived in places with lots of traffic and neighbor noise. I do have airplane noise overhead, but I’ve learned to live with it. I wish you peace and quiet!

I blog on the couch, with my laptop, usually with at least one dog sharing the lap space with the computer. I had been wanting to start a blog for ages, but didn’t actually do it until we got wireless access, just so I could write from the couch. (My computer desk chair gives me a backache, and I knew I’d be spending a lot of time there once I got my blog going.) The TV doesn’t always bother me, but there are some shows that distract me too much. I can’t write during “Dirty Jobs,” for instance, because I can’t tear my eyes away from the lovely Mike Rowe.

absepa — You’re right. Wireless and a laptop make blogging incredibly easier. I hated sitting up in the office staring at the screen. I write easier if I’m in a relaxed place, usually with a kitty by my side (now that I’m blogging indoors for the next few months). Oh, and Mike Rowe is indeed a cutey. I just can’t watch the stuff they make him do. Hope they pay him enough!

Since I’ve got the computer, I now call it my computer room. I have a PC emachine and my husband has mentioned several times he’s going to get me a laptop so he can have some time on the computer.
December 3rd, 2008 at 8:34 am
Instant Loan — That’s what we did. The laptop made it possible for my husband to remember what it was like to surf the web. Poor guy. I was physically attached to the PC chair for months.
