Windy Haikus
Windy August 7th, 2009Windy, March 2008
I miss you Windy
When I look out on your tree
All I see are leaves.
If you are in there
Can you give us a sign that
You are still with us?
Many of your fans
Wonder how you are doing
I have shed a tear.
Only time will tell
Whether you are still stuck in
Your big leafy tree.
I can’t wait til fall
Then I will know whether you
Are with us or gone.
If you aren’t with us
We’ll always remember you
Our dearest Windy.
Stumble it!

Windy, so lucky
Hanging out in a big tree
Wish I could join you
ps: I am doing a catnip Haiku next week. I swear I did not copy!

They say you have relatives in Antarctica
So many are out to get you
To shame you for being in a family of Plastics
You tried to hide for a while
You even spent the Holidays in a tree
Only time will untangle the wreckage of our hearts
If you are traveling right now, risking all that you are
Be brave our friend

OH – I hope Windy is in there. I don’t write any poetry, but I feel like Windy is a friend after seeing pics of her b’day party with all of her friends.

Oh, my. I have some serious catching-up to do this weekend. I’ve no idea of the story behind this “Windy” character but I have a strong feeling it’s gonna be a hoot. I can’t wait to be an up-to-date insider…God, I wish someone would invent blogs-on-tape for my car. How great would THAT be?

Everyone: Thank you so much for your good wishes for Windy and for those who left comments in haiku form. It was especially fun reading them, though I have a sad.
Yesterday while working on a PC in an office near Windy’s tree, I stopped to look out at it and I don’t see a thing. I know some part of her must still be in there, but the leaves are in the way.
Let us all hope for fall to come quickly and for the leaves to come down so I can continue to document her existence. Please, Windy, still be there!

Oh windy our friend
Kathy’s grown to love you so
Please be there for her
If you’ve gone away
She will hold a wake for you
So sad she will be

Ah, Windy, I fear is living up to her name.
Future generations will read about her tales and only remember her as “Gone With The Windy”.

Babs — A lovely haiku indeed. BTW, there will be cake at that wake. I never miss an opportunity.
John — Me too. I almost don’t want to know because then it’ll be final.
Swubird — Yep. Same bag. She looked pretty ratty the last time I could see her. Not much left of her. When the leaves fall, I’ll know for sure if she’s there.
Maureen — Ah, that has a nice ring to it, but it still makes me sad.
Lisa — We’ll see. Fingers crossed.
Karen — I’m thinking of creating a site for Windy so that people can submit pictures of plastic bags they see in her honor. I’ll post about it if I do.
Master Dayton — Beautiful (though Windy, we’ve decided, is a she).
LaTonya — I’d like to think that. What little of her is left, anyway.

Oh Windy, thou’s not stuck in that tree. Indeed, it’s where you want to be.

The inspiration came from your blogs….
Windy: always a joy
to see, flapping
for all to see
in the tree.
Cake and balloons
lame perhaps,
topped only
by bacon shoes.
Tours of the
Melon-Windy roof
run every hour.
Admission is free.
