A What's That Winner!

I’m pleased to announce two winners of Friday’s What’s That contest!

Cromely of Cromely’s World guessed it’s a razor blade storage or disposal unit. That wasn’t exactly right, but it was close enough to earn a prize. After reading my update that someone was on the right track, local reader Kathy B. studied the comments and correctly guessed it’s a razor blade sharpener.

This one was made by the Twinplex Stamping Company in the early 1900s.

congratulations to the winner! i showed the photos to my husband saturday evening. he spent a LOT of time on sunday trying to figure it out. just as i was falling to sleep last night, he told me what it was…i can’t remember, i was sleeping! he said it came to him as he was falling to sleep. and then this morning he told me he thought it could be an old clock mechanism. i have married a goof ball. 🙂

Why would you sharpen razor blades? Oh now I see, antique. I was thinking today’s razor blades. I never would have come close on this one.

That was a really good one. I had no idea these even existed. I always pictured the barber using their belt to sharpen blades like in old scenes of barber shops.
