A What’s That Winner!
What's That? February 18th, 2011First, my apologies for being MIA for a week. I’ve been laid up with the flu.
I’m done with the tissues, chicken soup and achy body. And I’m showering again, much to the delight of my cats, who even though they lick their own butts, thought I was getting kinda gross there for a while.
At some point during my illness, the correct guess for the last What’s That Wednesday contest came in. The answer was submitted by Jim, who didn’t leave a blog URL.
The object in question is a paper jogger, a device used in the printing industry to properly align paper and dissipate static.
Paper rests in the corner of the machine:
When the machine is turned on, the paper is shaken down, hitting the two metal sides where you see the paint has worn off.
I wanted to take video of the machine in action, but it’s terribly loud and I wasn’t feeling up to having my head explode.
Here’s a video of a similar jogger doin’ its thing:
Congratulations, Jim! I’m impressed you were able to guess that! I’ll write you soon to see which prize you want.
Now that I’m feeling better, I hope to get my writing groove back. In the meantime, I want to share an older post with you if you haven’t seen it. In honor of the Westminster Dog Show that took place this week, I give you My Interview with Remy, the standard poodle who won her category in 2008. It’s one of my all-time favorite posts.
Have a great weekend!
Stumble it!

Hi Kathy,
I am glad you are feeling better. The flu is a nasty thing.
I was excited to see today’s post announcing the winner. I had no idea what it was, but the winning answer was submitted by my husband, and today happens to be his birthday!

Congrats to Jim, and Happy Birthday, too 🙂
Hope you get to feeling better and better, Kathy!

I think you passed the flu onto me :/ Glad you’re feeling better now.

Hope you’re feeling better, Kathy!
I had the flu a couple weeks ago, so I know exactly how you feel. It felt like I had been hit by a steam roller. The achiness is what really bothered me. OMG, even my HAIR hurt! I was hot one minute, freezing the next. I kept taking hot showers to try and bake it out of me. Yup, and LOTS of chicken noodle soup. It worked!
Be well, neighbor!

So glad you’re feeling better now Kathy.
Although I have visited quite a few print shops in my time as a graphic designer, I have never seen one of those in action. Never would have known, even if I’d seen the whole thing!

Kathy, glad to hear you are feeling better. That was quite an intriguing picture. I had an advantage, because I used to help out in a print shop years ago. The wear patterns indicated something flat slid on the blue pieces, but the blue pieces are at right angles, so whatever was sliding wasn’t sliding away. What does that? And then I remembered.
I’m looking forward to the bacon bandages – I’ll take them to work so I can stop using electrical tape.
Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes.

So we were both a bit under the weather there. Glad you’re feeling better and if you hadn’t told us what that thing was, I would never have guessed.

MA Fat Woman — I knew it was difficult, but see, if we wait long enough someone gets it!
Linda Medrano — I will never forget that your prom dress looked like a potato sack. Never.
Linda — And I was so pleased that he got it! His prize package is on the way. Good for him!
Cats-Goats-Quotes — I’m feeling the best I’ve felt in a week today. Tempted to try the gym, but I don’t think my husband will let me out of the house for that. I really ought to sleep another day away, just to be sure.
Tanya — I hope this is the only sickness I get all year. I’m done!
blueyes — I’m sorry. Everybody has it, apparently. Everywhere I turn, someone is coughing up something.
Ron — I hate when even our hair hurts. You and I had the same thing. I’m just glad I didn’t have a sore throat. I would gladly have what I got all over again if it meant my throat wouldn’t be on fire. Glad you’re better now too, Ron!
Babs Beetle — Finally! A What’s That that you didn’t guess. And I should have feared you would get it, given your professional background. That was a close one.
Jim — I’m glad someone got it, and I do recognize that you’d probably have to be in the industry to get it. I figure if I leave it up long enough, someone somewhere will have seen it in their travels. Yea! No more electrical tape! Congrats again, Jim.
J. Bear Savo — You and everyone else. ‘Cept Jim. And thanks for the offer to help me out with future What’s That items. I’ll check out your auction galleries and email you if I want somethin’ photographed.
Pricilla – No, it is not. And I totally missed out on the springlike weather we had this week. No fair!
Nanny Goats — I didn’t know you were down for the count, too. Hope you’re back to normal now. I’m almost there!
injaynesworld — I’m glad you liked it. I love the way my sister characterized Remy, imagining her being interviewed smoking a cigarette and drinking a highball. That Remy. What an attitude.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. We had so much of it going around this house it to 4 weeks to get rid of it. You’re lucky you have butt licking cats instead of snotty little kids. They just pass it around and around.
