Food That Looks Like Stuff: Laughing Rhino
food November 8th, 2011Yo.
It’s been forever since I had an item for my Food That Looks Like Stuff series.
Today, I have a laughing rhino, courtesy of my egg and cheese breakfast sandwich.
Why do I even know what my melted cheese looks like inside?
Because I never enter the perfect heat time for these stupid things. One microwave I use takes 2 minutes, another 1:45 min, and yet another 1:30.
Because I forget which is which, I usually over-melt my cheese and it comes out scalding hot.
So I lift the lid to my sandwich and let it cool down before shoving it in my pie hole.
I give you, laughing rhino cheese head!
p.s. Rhinos are yummy.
Stumble it!

Brilliant! We have certain tabloid newspapers in the UK that are always running stories like ‘my toast looks like David Beckham’!

How come my breakfast never looks like a laughing rhino? I never knew how much it bothered me until now.

The publicist says “lid” must be regional because she says the same thing and she’s originally from Philadelphia.
I hope his horn didn’t hurt on the way down

I guess nobody else thinks it’s weird that you eat melted cheese for breakfast. Our local coffee shop always makes a mickey mouse pancake for the top when you order pancakes. Laughing rhinos are definitely more fun than mickey!

robert bourne — Everyone should be. I amaze myself sometimes (and if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you).
Daisy the Curly Cat — Hee. I don’t know why I called it that. It just feels like lifting a lid. Let’s just say sammies have lids, OK? p.s I loved your peanut butter licking video on Facebook today. You looked like you were going to eat mommeh’s finger too!
Lisa — I’m still waiting for the Jesus in my toast. Seriously. I know it’ll make me famous.
Marvin — That’s what my husband said too. Must be a guy thing. *RALPH!*
Rich — Cool! I totally want to find something worthy of a news report. I don’t care if people think I’m nuts, I just want to make the news.
June O’Hara — You have to look for things in your food, June. I’m telling you. Be observant. Wait a second before you eat. If you do find something, email it to me and I’ll feature it.
Pricilla — OK! Let’s say it’s regional! Nope, went down smooth. So delicious, those rhinos.
Linda Medrano — Don’t you eat melted cheese omelettes? I prefer a warm breakfast. Not a cereal gal. I love that you get a Mickey on your pancakes. That’s all kinds of awesome. I have a coffee scoop in the shape of Mickey’s hand, four fingers on the end of it. I use it with my Mickey coffee that a colleague of mine always buys for me when he’s in Florida for consulting. I love the Mickster!
meleah rebeccah — “Holy, Snapple!” Holy fun phrase! That’s new to me and I’m totally using it now.
DJ — Hey, at least you didn’t say he was puking! I love food art. I also love eating my work. Mmmm, delicious photo subject….
edmond0925 — Well, it was hurt, but I put it out of its misery fairly quickly. {smacks lips}

First: gokul medical tours comment is like wild poetry from an Eastern Bloc country.
Second: That’s a fantastic rhino! It would also make a fun title for a band, a poem or a novel. OHHH! A marriage made in heaven — it’s the title of gokul’s quasi haiku.

the color makes me mouth watering
(taps bongo twice)
enjoy the breakfast me to will try the dish
(bangs harshly on bongo three times and then whispers)
thank you

I don’t see it as a laughing rhino. I see it as a pretty perfect baby rhino, and what you see as it’s bottom jaw, I see as it’s front leg.
Either way that egg and cheese, with a lid, look very yummy!

That looks like a yummy rhino to me! I would have seen a boar rather than a rhino myself but I’m from the south so that makes sense.

I have to say it surely does look like a rhino…or maybe a stegosaurus.
I have a few bathroom tiles that have faces on them…one kinda looks like Jesus. I get a little creeped out going to the bathroom with Jesus looking at me, tho…so I tell myself it looks more like Charles Manson…but, seriously, that’s even worse, right?
I actually saved two potato chips in my life – one looked like Abraham Lincoln and the other looks kinda like The Virgin Mary. I can’t bring myself to throw her out. And, yes, in case you are wondering, I am indeed Catholic.
